The last (I believe) of my Monarchs for the season. This caterpillar is getting close, and the chrysalis is almost there (see the dent at the top). I really want to record the hatching, but I’m not sure I’ll be able. After these two, I’ll have released (with assistance for a few of them while we were out of town) 10 butterflies. A couple have been good size but the rest very little. I’m grateful to have taken part in their survival! BTW, the skeleton next to the chrysalis is just the caterpillar exoskeleton before it transformed. Because they spin a wide thread (looks like a thin piece of gauze when removed), it’ll end up pulling down the last chrysalis. I can’t remove it until the last Monarch is free. . . . . . #monarchbutterfly #monarchcaterpillar #caterpillar #butterfly #monarch #conservation #raisingmonarchs #milkweed #nature #naturelover #chrysalis #godscreation #gold #monarchfood #shinygold #shiny #chrysalis
